I have google news alerts set up searching for news about a live action movie for Cowboy Bebop and nothing’s shown up in maybe a year.
Then I see a message board posting stating that Kristopher Van Varenberg (son of Jean Claude Van Damme) has been hired as Spike for the live action movie. I found his Facebook page and no he has NOT been cast as Spike, but he’s lobbying to be cast. He had some pictures taken, in costume and in iconic Spike poses, check it out: https://www.facebook.com/KrisVanDamme.Movies.Life.
On March 13 he posted that he was “going in for the live action.” Check his photo albums, I think he LOOKS pretty good, and he does have a strong martial arts background too, so he COULD pull off the moves.
I’d be very interested in hearing what you guys think. 🙂

There is a web site I frequent that’s VERY GOOD if you want to learn about Japan. There is a posting they made about Japanese body language – how to express a thought or idea using gestures and body language (much like in the Western world – USA specifically – one would put tip of thumb to nose and perhaps wiggle outstretched fingers meaning “kiss my hinder” or something similar). I found one that reminded me so much of Spike I had to share it!
Sadly, I was unable to both add an illustration of Spike and embed the video in the same posting, but I’m pretty sure you’ll recognize it. I laughed, ’cause it DOES fit!
Howdy howdy howdy! Sorry I’ve been neglecting the blog as of late. Haven’t had much to say (about pretty much everything, turns out). I am still trying to get that fic I started last year finished. I have an idea for the next one but not till I finish this one. Sure hope it’s worth the wait. 🙂
My google alert came through for me this evening when it brought me this article about some of the talent from Sunrise Studios at the NYC Comic Con with news about the Cowboy Bebop live action movie.
There’s other news of interest in there as well, especially if you are fans of Tiger & Bunny and Accel World (which I am).
Well, I think this is good news. Personally, I’m hoping a Japanese production company will pick it up and run with it. But your mileage may vary. What do you think? Have you given up on a live action movie? Don’t want one? Let me know in the comments.

I upgraded wordpress to the latest version and noticed in my last posting that it was not displaying hyperlinks in the posts.
I’m trying to fix that but don’t want to change the appearance of the blog (I kind of like how it is now). Unfortunately, upgrading to a newer version of this theme is not working out – it’s not reading the settings and is ugly as sin. Doesn’t even look like the preview says it’s going to look.
There may be a change of appearance anyway if I’m going to fix the hyperlink erasure issue in posts. Sorry about that.
If you visit the place and it looks weird, that’s why. I’m trying to update the theme and make it look pretty and WORK like it did before.
It’s been reverted back to its original appearance. If you click on a posting and there is no hyperlink to another page like there is supposed to be, please leave a comment and I will provide you with the url. At least until I can get this working again.
EDIT: New version of wordpress doesn’t seem to like hyperlinks. Booo!
RE-EDIT: Examined the html that was supplied by the new wordpress and found that it was wrong. It’ll work as long as I go in and manually tweak it. I can live with that.
It’s been a long time since I’ve upgraded the software (and heck, the blog too. Sorry) and I think it’s about that time. I haven’t been able to do the automatic upgrades because of permissions errors and I don’t know why, so I have to do it manually – unzip the software, copy the pieces to my local folder the upload them to the site. It’s time consuming and the blog may not be available for a while, perhaps up to a few hours, while this is going on.
Plus I will have to upgrade the widgets and all the other junk I’ve added on but I hope I don’t have to upgrade or change the theme. I kind of like how it looks.
I wish I could say exactly when this is going to occur, it will be when I get the time to do it. It will be soon though, as I’m already making preparations and I would expect this to be done by this time next week. Chances are I’ll break something in the process. I hope not, but if there is an extended outage, that’s why – I’m a big, fat klutz.
Just wanted to give y’all a head’s up in case you visited and found the place gone or in a jumble. It WILL be back, it’s just me trying to get everything updated.
According to the article he “Hana wa Saku” (Flowers Are Blooming) song’s instrumental recording is complete, and vocals are now being recorded. 33 singers, celebrities, and sports figures who hail from Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima Prefectures — the prefectures hardest hit by the diasters — are contributing to the vocals. Kanno, as well as Iwai, are from Miyagi Prefecture, and their hometowns were affected by the disaster.
The people in the affected area are still not out of the woods and still need help. Please see the links under the “Assist Japan” section on the right if you are able to help.
